Kia ora,

Peter Collins, President, Royal Marine Association New ZealandWelcome to the online communication base for the New Zealand Branch of the Royal Marines Association.

The Royal Marines history in New Zealand began with the first landing on the 9th of November 1769, just east of the Taranganui River, by Mercury Bay. They presented Arms as the Union Flag was hoisted and the first link in the chain between the Royal Marines and New Zealand was welded. The full history is on this site.

Our branch has undergone something of a renaissance over the last couple of years or so and our membership has increased considerably, currently standing at approximately 70. We have recruited a number of relatively younger members and also a number of guys who have transferred to the New Zealand Defence Force.

We meet at 1400 on the 2nd Saturday of every alternate month, at the Point Chevalier RSA in Auckland. Date tracking pattern can be followed on the Meeting Minutes page. Our Corps Birthday Church Service and Luncheon is the highlight of our year. This year it is being held at the Birkenhead RSA in Auckland on Sunday the 31st of October.

We would be delighted to meet up with visitors to New Zealand from the Corps past and present. Please contact either me, our Treasurer Jacqui, or any one of our Office Bearers.

Yours Aye,

Peter Collins
